history of
East side presbyterian
The East Side Presbyterian Church in Fremont, Ohio originated from the First Presbyterian Church, which was founded in 1833 and was the first Presbyterian congregation in the area. As the First Presbyterian Church grew, it began establishing Sunday Schools in different neighborhoods to serve the expanding population. One of these Sunday Schools was located on the east side of the river, which became the origin of the East Side Presbyterian Church congregation. The Ballville Presbyterian Chapel was chartered in 1948 as an extension of the East Side Church.
The East Side Presbyterian Church began having combined church services with the First Presbyterian Church in 2024, with the goal of merging their congregations into one united church body. The merger was official and the two churches became Fremont Presbyterian Church of Fremont, Ohio on May 1, 2026.
